In-person/walk-in

Due to the resurgence of Covid-19 pandemic, particularly as Omicron variant has become the dominant strain in the United States, the walk-in consular services offered by the Embassy is suspended from December 28, 2021 until further notice.

Wearing a mask is mandatory for all kinds of service seekers during walk-in or in-person service at the Embassy.

How is the application processed

Application is received by walk-in or mail and entered into the tracking system of the Embassy. In case of incomplete application, the applicant is informed about the shortage of documents. Application is enrolled into MRP software. Required documents are scanned and uploaded into the system. Payment verfication is done. The application is sent to Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP), Dhaka for backend verification which includes checking of AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System), Demographic data of previous passport and other identification documents as well as the list of restricted individuals. If backend verification is successful, the application is sent to the Embassy for approval. After approval, the passport goes to the printing section at DIP for personalisation. Once printed, it has to go through Quality Control (QC) check. Then it is sent to the Embassy by mail from Dhaka. After the shipment is delivered to the Embassy, each new passport is scanned and received officially through MRP software, signed manually and activated through software. Finally, after updating Embassy's tracking system, the printed passport is either mailed (if there is a return envelope) or delivered to the in-person recipient.
