Who can apply for e-passport?

If you have a previous or existing MRP, you can either apply for reissue of MRP (with or without correction) or for e-passport. On the other hand, if you have a previous handwritten passport without having an MRP or you are applying for getting a Bangladeshi passport for the first time, you can no longer get an MRP. In that case, you need to apply for e-passport.

To apply for e-passport, you must have either a Bangladeshi NID card or a Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) having 17 digit number which is verifiable at everify.bdris.gov.bd.
