URGENT NOTICE FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION


In accordance with the response to matters relating to COVID-19, until further notice, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Washington, D.C. will be opened (limited) to in-person consular services to the public, effective from Monday, June 22, 2020.

Wearing a mask is mandatory for all kinds of service seekers during walk-in or in-person service time.

Office Hours effective on 30 Aug 2021: Monday - Friday (except holidays) from 10:00am to 4:00pm until further notice.

Receiving Time: Applications for services (Like issue of new/duplicate passports, renewals and miscellaneous services on Passports, VISA, NVR, Dual Nationality Certificate, Travel Permit/Document etc) are accepted between 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Delivery time is between 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. No application is received after 1:00 PM except in the cases of emergencies, such as death or illness in the family.

Services by mail will remain active and by fulfilling the requirements of having services by mail, service seekers may get their consular services.

All persons wishing to submit applications for the consular services should visit the Embassy’s webpage (www.bdembassyusa.org) for checklists and application specific instructions/ requirements. All applications being mailed to the Embassy should be sent and addressed to:

Birth Registration Certificate

Birth Certificate is a valuable document being issued by the Office of the Registrar of Birth and Death of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It should always be either in your own custody or in the custody of an authorized person. If lost or destroyed, the fact and circumstances should immediately be reported to the nearest Bangladesh Embassy and the local Police.

Birth Certificate is an essential document for applying for (a) Machine Readable Passport; (b) Marriage Registration; (c) Admission into educational institute; (d) Driving License; (e) Voter ID or National ID; (f) Bank account; (g) Import, Export or Trade License; (h) Utility Connections; (i) Tax Identification Number; (j) Contractor License; (k) Registration for Car etc.  জন্ম ও মৃত্যু নিবন্ধন আইন, ২০০৪ প্রজ্ঞাপন

জন্ম সনদ গ্রহনের জন্য কতিপয় নির্দেশনা-

১. অনলাইনে জন্ম নিবন্ধন ওয়েবসাইটে (http://bdris.gov.bd/) BR Application Form পূরণ সাপেক্ষে প্রিন্ট আউট নিয়ে, নির্ধারিত কলামে স্বাক্ষর করতে হবে।
২. দূতাবাসের নির্ধারিত Application Form-J পূরণ করে যথাস্থানে এক কপি ছবি আঠা দিয়ে লাগাতে হবে।
৩. বাংলাদেশ হতে জন্ম সনদ গ্রহণ না করে দূতাবাস হতে জন্ম সনদ গ্রহনের কারন উল্লেখ পূর্বক, পূর্বে কোন ডিজিটাল জন্ম সনদ গ্রহণ করেন নাই এই মর্মে স্বীকারোক্তি সহ মিনিষ্টার (কনস্যুলার) বরাবর আবেদন করতে হবে।
৪. পুরাতন পাসপোর্টের প্রথম ৭(সাত) পাতার অনুলিপি সংযুক্ত করতে হবে।
৫. পুরাতন জন্মসনদের কপি (যদি থাকে) সংযুক্ত করতে হবে।
৬. নতুন জন্মসনদের জন্য শুধুমাত্র USPS-এর ০৬ (ছয়) ডলারের মানি অর্ডার।
৭. রি-ইস্যু বা অনুলিপির জন্য শুধুমাত্র USPS-এর ১০ (দশ) ডলারের মানি অর্ডার।
৮. লেটার সাইজের ফেরত খাম প্রদান করতে হবে যথাযথ ডাকটিকিট সহ।
৯.    ডাকযোগে আবেদনের ক্ষেত্রে খামের উপর Attention: Birth Certificate Section উল্লেখ করে দিতে হবে।

No Refunds: Processing fees once received is nonrefundable, even if the application is withdrawn or service cannot be rendered. For new issuance fee is US$1.00 and for reissue US$2.00

Service by Mail: Outstation applicants may send their applications for consular service by mail. Applicants must add return prepaid envelope with appropriate postage, using the USPS Express/Priority and Certified mail service. The Embassy will not accept any return envelope without proper postage. Payment by credit card or account payee number will not be accepted as per the policy of the Embassy.

Please note that if any mail received before 10:00 am on a working day will be deemed as received on that day. Mails received after 10:00 am on a working day will be treated as received on the following working day.
