USA is Bangladesh's most important trading partner, with about 18% of its exports being destined for USA. Bangladesh exported worth $5.27 billion in 2014 to USA, with more that 89.09 percent being the clothing items. From US perspective, however, Bangladesh is a small trading partner.
Bangladesh's exportable include textile and clothing products, shrimps, ceramic ware, cap, headgear, leather, tobacco, furniture, toys, plastic items, artificial flowers etc; while importable include raw cotton, chemicals, machinery and equipments, pharmaceuticals, aircraft, electrical equipments, iron and steel etc.
Despite high import tariffs in USA, the apparel based products from Bangladesh have made successful inroad there in the recent years. While Bangladesh's total apparel products exports in USA was worth $2.37 billion in 2005, $4.29 billion in 2010 and it reached to $4.70 billion in 2014. With the wage increase in China in the recent years, the global buyers are increasingly tilting toward Bangladesh to source the merchandise. US based brands and importers can avail the opportunity of low-cost but quality products apparels from Bangladesh.
